With 2 weeks left in the season I thought I'd post the matchups as they stand now.
Eastern Conference
Metropolitan Division #1 vs Wildcard #2 New York R vs Detroit
#2 vs #3 New York I vs Carolina
Notes: These matchups are locked in but only 446 points separate Carolina and NYI so the seeding could change.
Atlantic Division #1 vs Wildcard #1 Buffalo vs Philadelphia
#2 vs #3 Florida vs Tampa Bay
Western Conference
Central Division #1 vs Wildcard #2 Nashville vs Chicago
#2 vs #3 St Louis vs Minnesota
Notes: Chicago is only 315 points ahead of Dallas for the last wildcard seed in the West. Chicago was 700 points behind Dallas two weeks ago.
Pacific Division #1 vs Wildcard #1 Vancouver vs Edmonton
#2 vs #3 Anaheim vs Calgary
Notes: 261 points separate the #1 Pacific seed Vancouver and the #3 Pacific seed Calgary, whereas Edmonton is locked in to the 7 seed in the West.

Leading the charge for Chicago, unbelievably, is Brian Gionta with 9 points in the last 7 games, but amazingly also a -3 in that span.

Playoff race analysis: #2 seed in Metropolitan NYI vs #3 Carolina (209 point difference) Carolina has finished in the top 5 in a week in 6 times thus far while NYI has finished in the bottom 10 in a week 4 times. Carolina has 290 more points than NYI since March 1, averaging 24.32 fpg to NYI's 21.26 fpg. NYI has played 33 more games over that period. The injury to Mark Giordano on March 1 has helped to make this a close race.
#8 seed in West Chicago vs #9 Dallas (500 point difference) Chicago has finished in the top 10 in just under half the weeks this season, almost twice as often as Dallas. Dallas has only finished in the top 5 in 3 weeks. Chicago has 1053 more points than Dallas since March 1, and is 7th overall during that period of time. Chicago has averaged 22.13 fpg to Dallas' 20.99 fpg. Chicago has played 34 more games, third most overall since March 1. This looks than it probably is.
#1 seed in Pacific Vancouver vs #2 Anaheim vs #3 Calgary (830 points separate 1st and 3rd, 93 points separate Anaheim and Calgary) Vancouver has finished in the top 10 in exactly half of the weeks (13 times), in the top 5 in 7 weeks and has won the third most weeks with 3. Anaheim has finished in the top 10 in 11 weeks, in the top 5 in 7 weeks as well and is one of only 4 teams to win multiple weeks (2 times). Calgary has finished in the top 10 in 69% of the 26 weeks thus far but only a third of those top 10 finishes have been in the top 5. Calgary is 6th overall since March 1 averaging 26.1 fpg over 261 games, the 26.1 fpg is 4th highest fpg over that period behind NYR, Philadelphia and Buffalo. Vancouver has averaged 23.66 fpg over 267 games over the same period, good for 546 fewer points than Calgary. Anaheim has 21.65 fpg over 242 games since March 1, good for 19th over that time period. The combination of a lower fpg and fewer games played means that Anaheim has lost 1624 points to Calgary since March 1. Calgary is closing fast averaging almost 325 more per week than Anaheim over the last 5 weeks. Vancouver looks safe, Anaheim not so much.
