Updated through game 4 of the Tampa - Boston series (May 21), using fantrax period option. Hope that's what Trott's been using and that I didn't mess anything up East: Looks like NYI is breaking away after a 3 point night for big Joe and a power play goal for Ryan Clowe. The Ehrhoff injury cancels BOS' man advantage unless Tambellini plays again (I am not counting Tanev), but he is still a threat as both Kesler and Krejci could light it up big time any game. This one's not over yet. Neither team has a Lightning player, and NYI's only Nuck is Salo. A Tampa-Vancouver final would really favor the ZFHL West West: EDM is stacked with 7 players, while NSH has 3 defensive Ds and a 4th liner. Result is pretty predictable. So we can already look to the finals here. Edmonton is riding St. Louis and Stamkos, so if they are eliminated he'll be left with Boychuk and Seidenberg in the east. With Samuelsson done, it's Hansen+Edler or McGinn left. Either way, given that neither NYI nor BOS have any Lightning players, Tampa in the final would give EDM a starting edgeagainst BOS if the Sharks make the final and NYI if the Nucks make the final. NYI-EDM in our final and Tampa-SanJose final in the NHL would make for a dandy series.

Wrap up:
Battle of the East ended up no contest, and Trotts' playoff-grizzled Isles summarily disposed of top seed Boston en route to another final berth. At the end of the day, injuries to Kesler and Ehrhoff did Phirerysky in, with Horton and Thornton leading the charge for Trotts with surprise help from Salo.
Battle of the west was a route, as the only remaining cinderella, goleafs' 5th seed Nashville, simply ran out of gas. Ference and Clark did what they could, but the St. Louis/Stamkos led Edmonton proved too much.
So all eyes now on the final, as oilersgm's defense-first team (Hansen, Edler, Boychuk, Seidenberg, with Samuelsson still on the shelf) lases up against Trotts' trio of Horton, Peverley and Salo. The key to the series will probably be how effective is the NHL's Vancouver going to be defensively. If they can stop Horton (especially) and Peverly, oilersgm could have an edge. But a rampant Horton will clinch for Trotts.
